Arthur and are both involved in the film scene in Milwaukee. So, as lame as it is, we actually met on a film set. He was acting in this short film, and I was asked to be an extra in the background for a party scene. Immediately, I thought he was so handsome. And I remember one of the first things he said to me was “the interesting thing about paella is that it’s made…in a paella!” It was corny as hell and I think that’s why I loved it.
After a few failed attempts at meeting up, we finally went on our first date. HE chose my favorite bar without me even telling him, so I knew he was a keeper. Shortly after our first date, I moved to Chicago for a bit but I knew we had something special. We kept a relationship going long-distance, and now here we are, four years later and still going strong.
Arthur and I really enjoy cooking and trying new foods together. He’s definitely a better cook than I am though. I usually just stand in the kitchen and offer up wine pairing suggestions for whatever he is cooking. We also love to travel and see new places. We’ve gone almost everywhere in the midwest, explored New Orleans, and hope to make it out to Europe sometime in the future when things calm down. A love of travel is essential for me, so I’m grateful that we share that trait.
I love Arthur because he encourages all of my dreams and ideas, no matter how “out there” there are. He’s always giving me the push I need, which is the exact person I want in my life. I love him because we seem to be completely on the same page about everything. The amount of times I’ve said “I was just about to say that!” when we’re talking on any given topic is crazy.
He looks out for me, he cares for me, and he’s my number one supporter. He’s so kind to everyone around him, and I’m sure that everyone that personally knows him can relay a time that he went out of his way for them. But most importantly, I love him because he’s so funny. He makes me laugh every day, and I mean like genuinely laugh. Sometimes I fake laugh to make people feel better about their lame joke, but not with him.
Honestly our ideal date would probably be sitting in front of the TV with a pizza in front of us, watching a documentary, a horror film, or a cheesy reality TV show. The pizza is usually from the frozen section at the grocery store, and is decked out with whatever is leftover in the fridge. It’s been our go-to COVID date, but I think we’ll continue this far after COVID is over.
Arthur fills my heart with so much joy. I’ve never felt a love like I do with him. We’ve helped each other through a lot of tough times in our life, and I wouldn’t rather have anyone else by my side. He knows when I want company, but also respects the fact that I’m a pretty independent person that values her alone time. I’m not sure how I got so lucky but I am so grateful for each and every day with this handsome guy.
